Get CertifiedDeer hunting season in Michigan typically occurs during fall and winter. The specific dates for these seasons are determined by the hunting method used (archery, firearm, or muzzleloader) and the region in question. Check the Michigan Department of Natural Resources website or reach out to local wildlife authorities for the most current and accurate information on deer hunting seasons in Michigan.
Deer activity patterns, weather patterns, and your preferred hunting technique all determine the best time to hunt deer in Michigan. Early in the season, deer may still be following their summer patterns, while during the rut (mating season), bucks tend to be more active and visible, providing better hunting opportunities.
In Michigan, hunter education is mandatory for all first-time hunters born on or after January 1, 1960. Completing a hunter education course is a requirement to purchase any Michigan hunting license.
