Ensure you have your permit. Before you transport game in Missouri, be sure you use the correct permit (deer or turkey) and attach it properly to the game’s leg. Keep deer and turkey intact (other than field dressing) until after you have telechecked your animal by phone or computer. Be sure you have a pen. Remove your permit from the animal and write your confirmation number in the space provided on your permit. Then properly replace your permit on the animal. The checking procedure is complete. You now may transport your game out of state, take it to a processor, or process it yourself.
Most hunters take their big game to a commercial meat cooler, where a typical white-tailed deer can be properly aged up to three or four days at 40° Fahrenheit.
Keep the field dressed game cool and free of dirt, moisture, and insects during transport.
