About 95% of Texas land is privately owned. Hunters need to respect the rights of private landowners and abide by their rules. In Texas, landowners:

  • Can grant or deny permission to hunt on their land.
  • Can require and charge for a hunting lease.
  • Can require hunters to sign a liability waiver.
  • Can impose stricter bag limits or harvest requirements, within existing game laws.
