Conservation Laws
Conservation laws ensure the wise use of natural resources. Some examples of conservation laws are:
- Bag limits—Prevent overharvesting of a habitat to maintain the proper balance of its carrying capacity.
- Game seasons—Regulate the taking of animals to manage the habitat. The conservation triangle of Research, Enforcement, and Management applies to bag limits and game seasons. If Research shows an overabundance of game, the wildlife manager can increase the bag limit or the game season to Manage and maintain the carrying capacity.
- Gear restrictions—Establish minimum standards for the humane harvesting of game animals.
