Combined effects of weather
The combined effects of these weather factors can affect fire differently on any given day and may even change as the day progresses. Higher temperatures and sunlight may be counteracted by higher humidity or made more severe by the presence of dry air. Morning humidity is generally higher, with lower temperatures and wind speed. This limits fire activity. As the sun warms the air, humidity drops and wind speed increases along with fire activity. Generally, a fire will burn more intensely and be more difficult to control between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Prescribed fires easily managed in the morning or evening may be impossible to control at midday.
