Daily Limit Versus Possession Limit
Review the following definitions for “daily limit” and “possession limit”:
- Daily limit is the maximum number of a particular species of game that a person is allowed to harvest in one day.
- Possession limit is the maximum number of a particular species of game (excluding migratory game birds) that a person may lawfully have under their control. This includes game in their immediate possession, portable cooler in their vehicle, home freezer, or registered in their name at a wildlife processing facility, or any combination therefore.
Example Question
I have 14 pheasants at home from previous hunts, and I want to go pheasant hunting today. How many pheasants can I shoot today?
Answer
I can shoot only 1 pheasant because my legal possession limit is 15 pheasants. I already have 14 in my possession even though I have not reached my daily limit today.
