Prohibited Acts in WMAs

While in a WMA, you may not:

• Participate in disorderly, obnoxious, or boisterous conduct, including interfering with the orderly process of hunting. Anyone violating this regulation will be removed from the WMA and/or prosecuted.
• Be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, narcotic drug, barbiturate, or marijuana at any time or possess any of these substances while hunting.
• Place or deposit any type of food to feed or attract wildlife (baiting).
• Use, possess, or transport firearms, bows and arrows, or other arms and ammunition unless you are authorized to do so.
  • Before transporting a firearm in a vehicle, you must remove all ammunition from the chamber and magazine.
  • For a muzzleloader to be considered unloaded, the cap or primer must be removed.
  • For a crossbow to be considered unloaded, the arrow (bolt) must be removed from the crossbow.
• Hunt, shoot at, chase, or kill any wild animal, wild birds, or waterfowl on public lands or waters while you are within 100 yards of a visible dwelling house unless you have the owner’s permission.
  • Using dogs for any of the above activities is also prohibited.
  • This regulation applies to dwellings on either public or private property.
• Hunt in a safety zone, except where provided.
• Participate in target practice, except on designated ranges.
• Use any sound that mimics a wild turkey to call or attempt to call wild turkeys from March 1 to the opening day of the spring turkey hunt.
• Dispose of dead wildlife in the WMA. If possible, you also must retrieve all crippled or dead game.
