Locating and Signing Up for the Field Day
After passing the online portion of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Hunting education course, you will need to locate and sign up for the required Field Day.
Locate and sign up for the Field Day in your area.
Important! Bring your Temporary Hunter Education Certificate to the Field Day as proof of having completed the online course.
Field Day fee: Texas charges a $15 student fee to participate in the Field Day. This fee must be paid to the instructor upon arrival at the Field Day, either in cash or as a money order. Occasionally, there are additional fees associated with the course (e.g., facility, building, or range use fees).
Warning! Passing the online course does not guarantee you a spot at the Field Day.
What to Expect at the Field Day
This is 4–6 hours, depending on the number of students attending and will include:

- Survival skills
Most of the classroom topics will pertain to Texas-specific regulations and issues that are not covered in this online course. Be sure to have proper clothing for the outdoor sessions.
