Get CertifiedWhile the Alabama deer hunting season's duration varies from year to year, it usually lasts for several months. Your hunting techniques and locations will define the length of these seasons. Contact the official Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) for the most up-to-date information.
Alabama is divided into several hunting zones, each with its own set of hunting dates and regulations. Archery season typically runs from October to February, and Firearms season begins in November and ends in early February. There may also be special hunting days designated for youth, muzzleloaders, and disabled hunters.
When it comes to the best time to hunt deer in Alabama, hunters typically find success during the rutting season, during which deer are more active and easier to locate. The rut occurs from November to December, varying slightly depending on the specific region of the state. During this period, one would likely see increased deer movement and have higher chances of encountering mature bucks.
Prospective hunters in Alabama, who were born on or after August 1, 1977, will require a hunter’s license. These licenses are dependent on the completion of a hunter education course, however, there are some exceptions. For example, one could legally hunt if they were accompanied by a licensed hunter who is at least 25 years old. I recommend visiting the official ADCNR website or contacting their office to ensure the accuracy of this information.
