Get CertifiedThe deer hunting season In Arkansas is divided into numerous segments based on the hunting zones and methods one chooses. It’s important to consult the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) regularly, as the regulations change every year. The most up-to-date information regarding hunting seasons can be found on their official website.
The most common hunting seasons practiced in Arkansas include archery, muzzleloader, and modern guns. Archery season begins in late September and lasts until the end of February. The start of muzzleloader season usually follows archery season, starting around early November and lasting for a few weeks. The modern gun season, which allows the use of firearms, is typically the most popular and runs for a shorter period, from November and December.
Most deer hunters in Arkansas find the most success during the rutting season, which typically occurs from late November to early December, region dependent. Deer activity usually increases during this time, since bucks are actively seeking mates.
Anyone born on or after January 1, 1969, must complete a hunter’s education course to legally hunt without supervision in Arkansas. The only exceptions to this rule are those hunters with a valid hunting license from another state, hunt under the direct supervision of a licensed hunter of at least 21 years of age, or participate in a mentored hunting program. Be sure to check AGFC’s official website or contact them directly for the most up-to-date information regarding Arkansas Hunter education requirements.
