Get CertifiedIn Florida, regulations regarding deer hunting season vary depending on the specific hunting zone and method used. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) manages hunting regulations annually, therefore, it's essential to refer to the latest FWC guidelines for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Deer hunting in Florida typically includes archery, muzzleloader, and general gun seasons. The specific dates for each season change every year, and the state is divided into hunting zones, each with its own designated hunting period.
Archery season in Florida often begins in late summer or early fall and can last until early January with Muzzleloader season following, starting around late September or early October. The general gun season begins around mid-November and continues through early January, again varying by zone.
The best time to hunt deer in Florida usually falls during the rutting season, when bucks are more active and easier to locate. The timing varies across the state - occurring as early as September in some zones, and as late as December in others.
Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must complete a state-approved hunter’s safety course before they can purchase a Florida hunting license. There are options for taking an online or in-person course to meet this requirement. Some exemptions may apply based on age and hunting license types. Visit the official FWC website to obtain the most current information on Florida's deer hunting seasons and hunter education requirements.
