How do I get my Kentucky Hunter Education Certificate?
1. Study and pass the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources–Approved online course.
Study and pass the $34.95 course. Throughout the Kentucky Hunter Ed Course, you’ll be tested on what you’ve learned.
2. Print your Range Day Voucher.
Immediately print out your Range Day Voucher, which you will need to bring with you to the Range Day. The Range Day Voucher is good for 365 days. You need to locate and sign up for the Range Day. To sign up, go to https://app.fw.ky.gov/edcourse/default.aspx?ctype=3.
3. Get your Kentucky Hunter Education Certificate.
You’ll be mailed your permanent Hunter Education Certificate within 30-45 days by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

All U.S. states, provinces, and other countries that have mandatory hunter education requirements will accept the Kentucky Hunter Education Certificate. Likewise, Kentucky will accept Hunter Education certifications that are issued by other jurisdictions that meet official IHEA-USA requirements. (This is known as “reciprocity.”)

If you fail a unit quiz, you can take it again until you pass. You must score at least 80% on the unit quizzes to pass.
Do I have to take an online exam?
The Certification Exam is the exam you take at the end of the online course. You must score at least 80% on the exam to pass. You have unlimited attempts to pass the exam. If you don’t complete the exam in one session, don’t worry. When you log in later, you will be taken to the first unanswered question of the exam.
About Your Certification
What is the proof of online Kentucky Hunter Ed Course completion?
Once you pass and pay for the online course, you will be able to immediately print out the Range Day Voucher. This is your proof of online course completion. You can print the Range Day Voucher right then, and/or request that a PDF be emailed to you. This certificate EXPIRES 365 days after course completion.
What is the permanent Kentucky Hunter Education Certificate?
The Hunter Education Certificate is proof that you have successfully completed all the education requirements. The Hunter Education Certificate will be mailed to you by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources after you complete all certification requirements.
