Course Outline

Please note that you may be hunting in Mexican gray wolf territory. It is important that you can distinguish the difference between coyotes and these smaller-sized wolf species.

Nose is pointy Nose is blocky
Ears are large and pointy Ears are small in proportion to head
Tail is short and fluffy Tail is long and stringy
20-35 pounds 50-80 pounds
4 feet long and 1–2 feet tall at the shoulder 5 feet long and 2–3 feet tall at the shoulder
Moves with more bounce Moves in a stiff, heavy gait
Shorter legs with smaller paws Long, lanky legs with large paws

Not all wolves have radio collars.
