Hunter Education

In Arizona you may take Hunter Education in three formats. Which class is right for you?

Trapper Education

Pursuant to A.R.S. 17-333.02 Any person born after January 1, 1967, is required to successfully complete a Trapper Education Course prior to obtaining a trapping license.

Bowhunter Education

To successfully complete Bowhunter Education in Arizona, you must complete the online Bowhunter Education course and then attend a field day.

Outdoor Skills Network

Have you ever wanted to try hunting, or harvest your own food? The Outdoor Skills Network is your one-stop resource for events offered by the Arizona Game and Fish Department and a network of partners that conduct hands-on events to teach you the basics about hunting, fishing, trapping, safety, wildlife and other outdoor skills.

Boating Education

The Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Boating Safety Education courses include instruction on the basic skills required to safely operate a boat or personal watercraft, trailering your vessel, navigational rules, buoys, anchoring, legal requirements, boating emergencies, water sports and paddling.

Off-Highway Vehicle Safety Education

The Arizona Game and Fish Department’s all terrain/off-highway vehicle (OHV) safety education course includes instruction on the basic skills required to safely ride or operate an OHV. These include responsibilities of OHV riders to others and the environment, general information on preparing for the unexpected, additional educational resources, laws, rules and regulations for the safe, ethical and responsible operation and use of OHVs.

Focus Wild

Focus Wild Arizona is the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s award-winning wildlife education program. The goal of the program is to promote awareness, appreciation and stewardship of the state’s wildlife resources by using wildlife as a context for learning science, social studies, math and language arts. The program includes complete lesson plans, books, posters, workshops and much more. Many of these resources are free and available for download directly from the website.

Scholastic Clay Target Program

The Scholastic Clay Target Program is a team-based youth development program that uses the shotgun sports of trap, skeet and sporting clays to instill life skills such as discipline, safety, teamwork, ethics and self-confidence. The program utilizes these disciplines to teach hunting skills through the safe use of hunting equipment including firearms and their relationship to hunting situations. Team members can participate in any or all three of the clay target disciplines; trap, skeet and sporting clays.
