Rabies: What AZGFD Is Doing

Once present, it is all but impossible to eradicate rabies from wild populations. AZGFD collects samples and tests for rabies when animals have been reported to have symptoms or when an animal dies under unusual circumstances. There is no active management of rabies because it is difficult to predict which areas of the state will have infected wildlife.
