Respect for Nonhunters

Respect also needs to be shown to nonhunters. Hunting often occurs on public lands where nonhunting activities also take place. Awareness of the attitudes of nonhunters is critical, and a hunter’s actions often influence this attitude. A hunter needs to try to mitigate the negative perceptions by demonstrating ethical behavior. For example, choosing not to kill an animal being observed by nonhunters will have a far greater positive influence than taking the animal and explaining that it was legal.
