Using Cable Devices In or Near Water
Cable devices can be used to make underwater or under-ice sets. The cables are attached to poles and stuck in the mud to make canal sets or baited sets for beavers. These are submersion systems.
Cable devices also can be used as live-restraining traps in water. The trap is set in the water but staked on land. This allows the trapped animal to leave the water.
When setting cable devices in water for swimming beavers, follow these guidelines.
- The loop should be 9 to 10 inches in diameter.
- One-third of the loop should be above the waterline.
