Exceptions to the Permit and Stamp Requirements
No Hunt Permit, Fur Harvest Permit, or Habitat Stamp is required for a farmer or rancher and all immediate family members who are:
- Living on the land they own or lease and…
- Hunting upland birds (except turkeys), squirrels, cottontail rabbits, jackrabbits (within a designated area), and furbearers during the designated hunting season.
No Habitat Stamp is required for landowners on their own land who:
- Have a limited landowner permit and…
- Are hunting antelope, deer, elk, or turkey.
Nebraska residents do not need a permit or Habitat Stamp to hunt:
- Coyotes
- Porcupines
- Prairie Dogs
- Woodchucks
