Respect for Private Property
The Nevada Department of Wildlife wants to remind everyone that Shed hunting on someone else’s land is a privilege, not a right. Remember common courtesy can go a long way toward establishing good-hunter-land-owner relations in the future.
Tips to use when shed hunting private property:
- Access to land across private lands is a privilege granted by the land owner. Not all roads are public roads. Traveling on private roads without permission to access other lands is a akin to someone walking through a house to reach a neighbors home.
- Bring a good map showing private and public land ownership. Know where you are. There may be no cell service in rural areas.
- Build good relationships with land owners by asking permission.
- When granted access, bring only the number of shed hunters expected by your host.
- Report misconduct. Misbehaving hunters jeopardize the use for resources for all shed hunters.
- Report wildlife crime to NDOW via your phone app. To download the NDOWTIP app, go to Apple store or Google Play.
