Hunting or Trapping on Public Land
In Wyoming, about 50% of the land is public land.
- Public lands that are legally accessible are open to public hunting unless the land is posted as closed by the land management agency or is closed by WGFD regulations.

- By entering from bordering private land where you have permission to cross or hunt.
- If you must cross any private land to get to public land, you must get permission from the private landowner.

- Most of the public land is managed by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Hunters do not need to get special permits or pay special fees to hunt on these lands.
