Course Outline

Beavers are aquatic animals and rarely spend time far from water.

  • Since they are not as wary as many other furbearers, beaver sets can be placed without much pre-season preparation.
  • Snares for beavers must be either partially or fully submerged in water.
    • Partially submerged sets are typically placed where ⅓ of the loop is out of the water and ⅔ is below the water’s surface.
    • Fully submerged sets are typically placed directly in a channel constriction with the loop completely below the water’s surface.
