Course Outline

Culverts are used by furbearers to enter or exit an area. They provide good opportunities for sets because animals tend to use them to avoid exposure and risk of being struck by vehicles on roadways.

  • Smaller culverts should be avoided to avoid smaller, non-target animals.
  • Care should be taken to ensure that there is not drop-off at the culvert edge to avoid the risk of suspension or entanglement.
Culvert Set Placement

Culvert sets are effective, but trappers should make sure the animal cannot become suspended or entangled.
