Course Outline

Terminology is an essential component in any field of study, but it is especially important where laws strictly regulate activities. Frequently, laws and regulations use terminology with which the average person is not familiar. Often these terms will be defined within the law or regulation itself, but this is not always the case.

  • Throughout this course, the terms necessary for a trapper to legally use cable devices within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will be clearly defined.
  • These terms are also generally applicable to cable devices in other states, but trappers should always make sure they have a clear understanding of what terminology is being used in each state, and what it means.
  • As you take this course, pay particular attention to the terms “cable devices,” “cable restraints,” and “snares,” since each of these has a specific meaning.
