Course Outline

The cables most frequently used for cable devices are designed for a single use.

  • After an animal is caught, the force of pulling, twisting, and stretching applied by the animal as it tries to free itself often damages the cable by causing it to fray or kink. Larger cables with more strands are less likely to become damaged after a catch, but all cables are susceptible to some degree of damage.
  • Cables should be inspected after each use and replaced if there is any sign of damage that would keep the cable device from operating properly.
